I am useless. I promised so much and did nothing. My excuse is I am the mother of a couple of teenagers and also run my own business but to be honest I could squeeze some time in for writing but I haven’t done it for months. It’s 2024. Everything is on the line.

Have you seen the American teenager who got 1st at worlds this year?

To be perfectly honest when it comes to writing, I struggle with what is truly important.

I think Ilia Malinin is one of the most important things to happen in this time. An incredible, astonishing performance that is unequaled now and may be unequaled by anyone else for many years.

But aside from that we have so much going on, so much political detrius and lack of understanding of what is important, that protects us all, the rule of law. This is not a poetic topic but allowing someone who as defrauded and subverted the law to become chief executive who has the pardon power is a disgrace and I hope we will go out and vote against that (I’m being indirect but you know who I mean).

I’m no fun anymore. Nothing is interesting. Everything is existential.

I just wish we had a real meritocracy.

I will try to latch on to important things and think about them rather than float along in lazy way as it is so easy to do…
